British, Norwegian and American maritime forces confronted Russian vessels preparing to undertake an exercise to test a new device for cutting undersea fiber optic cables.
The confrontation happened near Svalbard, (north of Norway/Sweden and east of Greenland) where two fiber-optic cables extend for about 1,400km and are ~2,700 meters underwater.
