"An Indonesian or Malaysian satay with dry marinade (a rub?) containing cumin and no kecap. Not served with peanut sauce. Looking for recipe."

Damn! I know I’ve got #arthritic #hands but these #jars from #HongKong are proving very hard to #open!
I’ve got one to the point that the faintest sheen of oil is showing at the bottom of the lid & I can smell the sauce.
My next move is very hot water - or a rock!
Do the restaurants that use this sauce employ body builders to open the jars?

Lunchtime invention - with some nice fresh #celery on hand, I've been visualizing trying this for a couple of days…
Chopped onion, powdered chicken-soup stock, and peanut butter, smeared on celery. A nice #satay flavour. I like it!
Give it a try – substitute veg stock mix instead if you're vegan/vegetarian.

My first attempt at #Vietnamese #summerRolls in ages. Filling was shredded #surimi, #rice #vermicelli, #romaine, Asian #cilantro, Asian #basil, #carrot, #cucumber, #onion, and #limeJuice, all wrapped in #ricePaper. Dips were #saté (#peanut, #coconutMilk, #chili), #sweetChili (both homemade) and #Kikkoman soy sauce.
Turned out pretty good, though I definitely need to roll them much more tightly next time.

CW: food, meat (and a CW for cats: cucumber)
Made some excellent #food yesterday, if I may say so myself. Marinaded #chickenFilet in a #homemade #ketjapManis-based #satay marinade, fried it with some wok veggies, and served it with rice and quick-pickled #cucumber.
Took plenty of pictures, so I should be able to add the recipe to #recipEasy.

CW: food, raw chicken meat
We got a good deal on raw chicken filets, so I cut them up and marinated them in a home-made mixture of ketjap manis (sweet soy sauce), grated ginger, toasted sesame seeds, fresh garlic, onion, sambal oelek (minced chili paste), sunflower oil, salt, pepper & vinegar.
After letting them marinate for a while, I skewered them and put these #satay skewers on a charcoal grill outside, and served them with peanut sauce.
