Facing a $349M deficit (or double that if you include the uncollected carbon levy) Saskatchewan is full steam ahead on coal with a plan to spend close to a billion dollars on refurbishing coal.
They’ve ruled out converting to gas (not much better), or even mentioning solar or wind for…reasons? Energy security?

The judge in the case is considering whether she should take on the case while the province gets busy with plans to refurbish plants, increasing the amount of coal they burn for electricity.
And Environment and Climate Change Canada replied to my questions with a mild threat.

Well it appears my initial instincts about the Saskatchewan election were sadly accurate. While the Saskatchewan Party lost a little ground they still won the popular vote. Even under proportional representation they would be forming a majority government. Alberta and Saskatchewan are deeply and religiously* conservative.
