Sasanian Woman and Buffalo Silver Rhyton, 6th–7th century CE
This remarkable silver rhyton, decorated with mercury gilding and glass inlays, combines the head of a woman with that of a water buffalo—blending artistic traditions from both Iranian and Greek ceremonial vessels. Designed as a drinking or pouring vessel, it features a filling hole at the top and a spout at the front.
Currently preserved at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

#Boran was a #Sasanian #queen of Iran from 630 to 632. She is the second of only three women to rule in Iranian #history.
Though her reign was brief, she brought stability to #Iran by creating just laws, rebuilding the infrastructure, and by lowering taxes and minting #coins.
