Found this poking out of the base of one of the pitchers. Might be a second flower on the way! (Or an alien.)

That one with color had something interesting in the growth. A stolon? I've only seen #Sarracenia plants grow from a crown. Turns out someone else noticed one on Sarracenia purpurea var. montana, which the source has. Bet it ends up that.

@ClimateJenny Fine, you convinced me, I'll dig out a few more, including a mantis nymph. The mother laid 3 ootheca on my patio so her babies could be born near an all you can eat buffet. So many babies in my yard that spring :).

Now I want to know if there's a word for that, predators that steal from predators.

Found this little guy in my quest for photos for the next project. Turns out, carnivorous plants don't just attract prey insects, the predators come in to steal from the plants. There was always a spider in my bog plants, at least one.

My wife and I gave up flying about a decade ago. However, to quench the longing for exotic places, we allow some exotic plants in our garden. We monitor lists of invasive species of the EU and Switzerland though.

So far, #CyclamenCoum, #EucalyptusGunii (in pot) and #Sarracenia (in special bog bed) are doing well this winter and provide some colour in grey weather.
The trend for the coming 14 days says -10°C (14 °F) at night and more snow though. A winter like in my childhood.

Isodontia mexicana, a grass-carrying wasp that provisions nests with paralyzed tree crickets. This individual emerged from a cocoon that was in the observation panel of my insect hotel. I'm hoping this year that some will move into the pitcher plant (Sarracenia sp.) that I have growing in my new mini pond. Their carnivorous plant collection was impressive, especially the nepenthes. Some of the pitchers were bigger than my hand 🖐️
