How proactive ECC data housekeeping reduces your RISE with SAP footprint and your costs.

Every unnecessary GB of data removed from your ECC environment today is a potential cost saving in your future RISE subscription. This cleanup should be completed before RISE sizing and commercial discussions with SAP.
Why Data Cleanup Matters Before RISE
SAP's vision is to help its existing ECC customer base move confidently to S/4HANA via RISE with SAP a managed cloud offering that bundles the S/4HANA licence, infrastructure, and support into a single subscription. A core input to that subscription is the sizing of the target HANA database which is calculated in part from the volume of data being migrated.

Because RISE is a capacity-based commercial model, bloated ECC landscapes that carry years of transactional history obsolete change documents, and unarchived spool objects translate directly into a larger HANA footprint and, consequently a higher recurring fee.

Today, I want to address Compatibility Package (CP) use rights issue and how to check them in your system going forward. To know more about compatibility packs, compatibility scope matrix and way forward details please refer note 2269324.

As you might be aware, the compatibility use rights for On-Prem S/4HANA customers were extended till May 31st, 2026. After this period, customers who do not operate under a cloud subscription are not allowed to use CP functionalities anymore.

Web access via My Home and the SAP Fiori launchpad has many useful improvements, as does SAP Mobile Start for mobile access. Joule gives conversational access to Private Cloud Edition using natural language, now also with analytical insights. There are additional collaboration capabilities, and many improvements in details: some towards providing a more consistent and integrated SAP Business Suite, some simply making a user’s life easier. Finally, design and UI technology is also advancing, with powerful AI support for developers now available.

Meaning, you no longer use the eDocument Inbound Message Handler for these activities. Instead, you use Schedule Jobs app.
