Das kapverdische Fussballmärchen endete eine Woche nach dem deutschen
Wie schlau der Gianni ist, das fragen Sie am besten immer noch seinen Friseur. In der deutschen Medienöffentlichkeit, ihrem Heer an unerträglichen “TV-Experten” (ohne Gendern, die meisten Frauen sind fachlich qualifiziert, ich sage nur: Almuth Schult!) konnte mit ihm nur noch der weise Christian Streich mithalten.
Im historischen Duell der alten Männer traten letzte Nacht Lionel Messi und Josimar José Évora Dias (“Vozinha”) gegeneinander an. Der alte Mann von der Atlantikinsel São Vicente, an Einwohner*inne*n so gross wie Beuel, am 1. Jahrestag meines Herzinfarktes ist er 40 geworden, hat mehr Instagram-Follower*innen als der Schalker Manuel Neuer. Er hypnotisierte den alten Lionel derart, dass der drei Freistösse verschoss. Lionel ist bei Freistössen aus 20-30 Metern gewöhnlich sicherer, als bei Elfmetern ohne Abwehrmauer. Nicht diese Nacht.
Die Kapverden haben wenig mehr Einwohner*innen als Bonn. Sie verteilen sich auf 9 Inseln in einem sehr grossen Ozean. Dort haben sie ein ganzjähriges Klima, was wir hier kürzlich “Hitzewelle” nannten – aber mit mehr Meeresluft. Ihre Musikszene war bislang weltweit besser bekannt, als ihre fussballerischen Leistungen. Das hat sich mit der Trump-/Infantino-WM geändert. Obwohl schon die zuvor viermalige Qualifikation für den Afrika-Cup (2013, 2015, 2022, 2024) durchaus spektakulär war.
Das war auch das Spiel heute nacht. Ich habe es auf Video. Der amtierende Weltmeister konnte sich drei Stunden lang nicht sicher fühlen. Noch in der Verlängerung glichen die Kapverden zum zweiten Mal aus, und hatten auch nach dem 3:2 in der 111. Minute noch zwei Topchancen zum dritten Ausgleich. So nah war der Weltmeister am Schicksal der deutschen Deppen.
Schade. Ich werde heute mein Glas auf die Verliererhelden erheben. Denn auch Verlieren will gelernt sein. Wir Deutschen sind davon noch weit entfernt.

"On Monday morning torrential rains lashed the northern island in the Atlantic archipelago located off #WestAfrica swamping roads and sweeping away vehicles and people.
"Municipal councillor Jose Carlos da Luz told a state broadcaster seven people had died in floods and one person was electrocuted, adding that three others were still missing.
"In a report on Monday, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies put the death toll at nine and said 1,500 people had been displaced on Sao Vicente.
"Sao Vicente usually records 116 mm of rain in a year, according to Cape Verde's meteorology institute. But early on Monday 193 mm fell in just five hours, according to Ester Brito, an executive at the institute." 'It is a rare situation because what was recorded is above our 30-year climatological average,' she told Reuters, adding that in just two hours more rain fell than the island typically receives annually.
