🚨🚔🍻 SANTA ROSA POLICE TO HOLD DUI CHECKPOINT

Edited press release from SRPD:

On Friday 6/30/23 the Santa Rosa Police Department will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) Checkpoint from 6:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.

Impaired driving may include alcohol, some prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs and marijuana (medicinal or recreational).

Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Santa Rosa Police Dept. will conduct a DUI checkpoint from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Fri., May 19 at an undisclosed location in Santa Rosa. "The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road."

SRPD is legally required to announce that there be a check point in Santa Rosa city limits but not necessary disclose the location.

Drive safe and remember, drinking and driving can cost a lot of money and more importantly result in death or injury of yourself or others.

Early start on Waterfall Wednesday tonight. Admittedly not the most impressive waterfall, but remarkable for drought punished Santa Rosa. Normally this is a dry ravine.

To borrow a phrase from Julie Andrews, all of Spring Creek Trail is alive with the sound of running water. It makes the usual hike much more enjoyable with the new "soundtrack." Normally there is just a silent trickle in the creek bed.

Most of this water is headed for Santa Rosa Creek, which goes through downtown. Sadly, car-brained city leaders had it entombed in concrete in the 1960s.
