    ¿Sabías que en México se cobraron impuestos por tener perros, puertas y ventanas?

    Durante el siglo XIX, la desesperación de los gobernantes por recaudar dinero dio origen a uno de los episodios más ridículos de la historia fiscal mexicana. En el año 1854, el presidente Antonio López de Santa Anna decretó un impuesto a las luces exteriores, el cual obligaba a los ciudadanos a pagar una cuota fija de cuatro centavos por cada ventana y un real por cada puerta que tuviera su casa. La lógica detrás de esta medida era que mientras más aberturas tuviera una vivienda, más adinerado era su dueño, por lo que el simple acto de querer recibir aire fresco o luz solar se convirtió en un lujo costoso que la gente intentaba evitar tapando sus fachadas con ladrillos.

    Meses antes de cobrar por la luz del sol, el gobierno ya había aprobado otro decreto absurdo que establecía un impuesto obligatorio de un peso mensual por cada perro que se tuviera en la Ciudad de México. No importaba si el animal era una mascota faldera o un guardián de terreno; todos los dueños debían registrar a sus mascotas en un plazo de ocho días o se arriesgaban a que las autoridades capturaran y sacrificaran a los animales. Aunque estas medidas pasaron a la historia como el ejemplo perfecto de la ocurrencia y el abuso gubernamental, la realidad es que recaudaron muy poco dinero porque los ciudadanos prefirieron ocultar a sus mascotas y clausurar sus propias ventanas antes que regalarle sus ganancias a la dictadura.

    They are nasty in #shadowsofbrimstone - NEVER stand where they can approach you in formation, those volleys kill you quickly.

    Uniform I chose is based on the #mexican army of #SantaAnna 1835ish, summer colours, grenadiers. I liked the clean look.
