Fifth day of the previous year's #Switzerland trip. Taking the Bernina Line, highest railway crossing in Europe, one of the steepest in the world. We went from #SanktMoritz to #Tirano, and then changed to a regular Italian train to #Milano.
First view: #Morteratsch station. When the station was built in 1908, the plain next to it was the lip of the Morteratsch glacier. The glacier is now 3 km away.🧵

Fourth day - train trip from #Zürich to #SanktMoritz. We did not go through #Davos, unfortunately, but it's easy to see why the ultra-rich love the area: it's both beautiful and difficult to get to. With few routes through the valleys it's easy to keep the common people out.
We also found @shanselman 's home place! 😁

De Italiaanse skiester Sofia Goggia heeft in het Zwitserse Sankt Moritz de eerste wereldbekerwedstrijd van de super-G van het seizoen gewonnen. Voor de 31-jarige Goggia was het de eerste zege in twee jaar in de discipline en de zesde in totaal. Ze heeft nu 23 wereldbekerzeges op haar palmares...
