I was in #SanFranSokyoSquare at a time where there was no meet and greet happening, so I could have a look over in that area, which isn't often accessible. The husband had Walt's chili in a Mickey-shaped bread bowl. He said the chili was good but spicier than other versions, which wasn't a problem, except that he thought it included green chilies, which he's not a fan of. I also finally tried the potstickers that I've been hearing about - crispy vegetable and chicken potstickers with a ginger dipping sauce. The filling was very flavorful, and the dipping sauce was really good. I enjoyed the ramen, though it was saltier than normal ramen, so while I usually finish the ramen broth, I did not in this case. The broth was also spicy, which I did not expect, but I enjoyed it. I thought it was a good dish, but not one I'd order again. 2/3

Lunch today was at #LuckyFortuneCookery . I finally had a chance to try the beef birria ramen - ramen noodles with consome, served with house-made birria, soft boiled egg, Monterey Jack, cilantro, onions and radish.

Had to dig a bit to find the beef and the egg, and I don't remember encountering any cheese. Look at that perfectly cooked soft boiled egg. Mmmmm. 1/3

Given that some people are allergic to soy, I would think that would be a problem, especially as I presume the plant-based version also includes the not-disclosed tofu.

Dinner tonight was at #AuntCassCafe . I've had the chilled shrimp soba noodle salad before, but the previous version didn't include the tofu cubes. I did still really like this dish. The tofu cubes were previously only included in the plant-based version of the salad. It was very good, though not as heavy on the yuzu elements as I would have liked. The lemon / sweet balance was heavy on the sweet and not enough on the lemon.

Finally had a chance yesterday to try the yuzu bread pudding (yuzu bread pudding, yuzu lemon curd, blueberry compote, graham cracker crust and whipped topping) from #AuntCassCafe . Yes, it really was as large as it looks, almost as big as the plate it came on. I do not ordinarily drink this color beer. I'm a Newcastle, Guinness and Modelo Negra person. So it came as quite the surprise that I like the #KarlStraussBrewingCompany Golden Stout, available at #PortOfSanFranSokyoCerveceria at #DisneyCaliforniaAdventure . It tastes like a brown ale despite its appearance. Highly recommend if you're into dark beers. #SanFranSokyo #SanFranSokyoSquare

My only issue is calling it a gyoza of any form. A gyoza does not involve a bun of any sort, but rather, a flour wrapper. It seems like they decided to go with the dish, but the bun doesn't really go with the Japan-influences of the land, so decided to call it a gyoza to fit in with the theming, even though it's not close to being a gyoza. 🤷

The bun was pretty good, but it was a little bit soggy, likely because the item is kept in the warmer bag and then kept in a warming drawer, given the circumstances of being in a fast service theme park environment and wanting to keep the bun warm. I finally decided to try the mis-named gyoza sausage bun from #PortOfSanFranSokyoCerveceria . It's a steamed bun with ground pork, ginger, mushrooms and leeks, with a chili-soy dipping sauce. The filling had nice flavor, and the sauce was wonderful. No wonder you can just buy the sauce to put on anything you want. #SanFranSokyoSquare #SanFranSokyo #DisneyCaliforniaAdventure #BigHero6 /1
