FOD walked the field behind my neighbor's house. Her yard care people threw a lot (lot!) of fist-sized rocks off her yard into the field, quite hazardous for next year's brush clearance. They've been doing it with a tractor, and already there have been two (2) wildfires here due to brush clearance, tractor with a brush hog hitting rocks. Incident Summary"The Sandy Fire is currently at 2,114 acres, with 30% containment. Crews had great success on Wednesday, and there was no increase in acreage overnight. Today, crews are focused on mopping up, addressing hot spots, reducing unburned brush near impacted communities and continuing work towards full containment.
Light and variable winds are forecast for the area today, becoming southwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon, with a high near 84 degrees.
As conditions improve, public safety personnel will begin coordinated repopulation efforts. At 2:30pm today, several evacuation orders will be reduced to evacuation warnings. "

A number of evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect along the southern portions of Simi Valley and surrounding communities. Residents in impacted areas should remain aware of the potential for rapidly changing conditions. If you feel unsafe or are concerned about conditions in your area, do not wait to evacuate.

Due to the Sandy Fire’s proximity to the Santa Susana Field Laboratory area, air quality monitoring is being conducted around the fire perimeter. Monitoring equipment has been proactively deployed to establish background air quality readings and to help assess conditions should the fire advance further into the area. At this time, the fire has not crossed into the Field Laboratory property.
Air monitoring information helps incident personnel and public health officials evaluate smoke and air conditions and provide timely updates to the community. Residents can monitor current smoke and air quality conditions using the (opens in a new tab)AirNow Fire and Smoke Map."

The Sandy Fire is currently at 2,215 acres, with 15% containment. Crews continue strengthening containment lines while prioritizing structure protection and patrol operations in the impacted communities as they work towards full containment.
Winds are expected to lessen slightly through the evening hours, however, continued wind shifts, low humidity, and dry vegetation may still contribute to periods of increased fire activity through Thursday.
A number of evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect along the southern portions of Simi Valley and surrounding communities. Residents in impacted areas should remain aware of the potential for rapidly changing conditions. If you feel unsafe or are concerned about conditions in your area, do not wait to evacuate.
