This is a rather frequent mistake in Bulgaria, in translation:
“Silicone Valley”, instead of “Silicon Valley”.(Most recently I saw it the other day in an autobiographical summary of an entrepreneur turning politician.)
Maybe that can yield a pun or two in English as well.

One of the sand spades my children *cough cough* use to make elaborate concentric fortifications with scale OO architecture figures at the beach has developed a natural pitch B note, so every time you dig it rings this pure tone when you bang into a rock. It's like something from an eighties fantasy film with a limited SFX budget, primarily focussed on sandcastles.

Researching the physics of sandcastles and I have just found a paper (https://doi.org/10.1038/srep00549) that says you can use hydrophobic sand to make sandcastles underwater, because the roles of water and air are reversed and the air makes bridges that hold the whole thing together. The picture is from that paper. Has anyone tried this? I’m pretty sure I’ve got some hydrophobic sand which I’ll dig out later, but I’m trying not to be too distracted now. #sand #physics #sandcastles
