There's a new #BundleOfHolding up for #SalvageUnion. $20 for what i suspect is the whole run.
I haven't had a chance to check this out direclty, but I was very tempted by the Kickstarter and the vibes are still really appealing: I'm a sucker for any kind of story about maintaining technology with whatever ragtag bits and bobs can be scavenged.
Seems like a perfect way to sample it.

@e_eric You know, I think I have to put something on the table about this game. I was really just about to commit to picking it up.
I love the visual aesthetic of the work. I love the layout. I love the packaging. I'm an absolute sucker for giant robot settings in general.
The problem is that the setting itself, in terms of political and social setup, bores the living snot out of me. Yet Another Corporations/Capitalism Is Bad™.
Aren't we done beating that same boring, been-done-and-better-by-cyberpunk setup? Enough.
That's what kept me from buying it because I have plenty of games which tell me that corporations and being able to buy and sell freely are terrible things even as they are trying to get me to freely buy something of theirs.
I had no idea if anyone had told the creators this before, but man, it really needs to be said at least once.

I've shilled this before, but a week from the end of the backerkit campaign, here's a booster shot for the Salvage Union starter set. (I have no ties to this one, other than being a fan of the game.)
Play as salvager mech pilots struggling to maintain a Union Crawler in monster- and bandit-filled wastes. If you can stay away from arcologies and get enough salvage, you might be able to upgrade your crawler so it can welcome more wastelanders and corpo defectors. And you'll be able to build better mechs to help defend your loved ones!
The box will have a whole campaign for your table to discover the game. I was in a playtest last week and we lost three mechs (but no pilots!) so it won't be a cakewalk ;)We got a couple new mechs as stretch goals as well as sticker sheets to improve the booklets -- or the corebook if you have it. The tech catalogues have a few of these clever fillers you can replace by new stuff.
**Edit to add system details:** SU is based off Quest, so it's very simple mechanics wise: roll a d20, no maths. Abilities cost points that you recover between adventures. The game's depth resides in its tech catalogues, which are handled very simply.
Though not technically an OSR game, the open world approach to campaign makes it feel like one.

I was in another one-shot of the #TTRPG #SalvageUnion this morning.
From the alchemy of the scenario and the different set of players, the tone was quite different from the previous time we played.
But I found myself thinking about the podcast I'd been listening to about #FateRPG and how, for all the differences in the theory and structure of the game mechanics, the experience of the different games feels more alike than not.

I was in a one-shot of the #TTRPG #SalvageUnion this morning, GMed by Panny, one of the designers. It was a good time. I got to do some heroic mech engineering in the wastelands.

I'd contributed to a crowdfunded #TTRPG a few years ago, #SalvageUnion, and had been excited enough about it to pay for a physical copy of the book. The delivery date was next week, then suddenly moved to today or tomorrow. And I was flying out of town today. I was anxious the box would be sitting on my doorstep, enjoying Portland's late autumn weather.
Just as I was heading to the bus stop, I saw the mail carrier pulling in.
Anyway, the box is now packed in my duffel bag.

Listening to the freshly released #SalvageUnion OST by Greg Illidge, and it's DAMN GOOD.
SO GOOD!
I love TTRPGs with official soundtracks.
YEAH! :minette:(Right now the OST is for backers only, but it will be released for the general public after the book hits retail)

At last, the final mech on the Salvage Union's Workshop Manual: The Leviathan.
A true BEAST of a mech, here in Ironmonger Solutions Inc colours, the "Strike Devourer".
This unit was lost during the Strike Wars, but Thatcher Steel rewarded their services with the property of an unused mine for them to exploit.

🏗️ A DAY ON THE COUNTRYSIDE: The Old Mine 🏗️
The original miners knew about the Meld infestation but Thatcher Steel did not cared, the reason (among others) this mining complex striked. Of course, the Ironmongers know nothing about it, maybe the memo was lost on TS's headquarters? Or part of the "payment"?

🏗️ A DAY ON THE COUNTRYSIDE: Underground Mine 🏗️
Not a lot of place for maneuvering your mech, time for those melee builds to shine! Featuring two of TS's most popular mechs.
Forgot to add some powerloaders, I guess I will include them on the expanded mission later this year.

Have you seen Verhoeven's Robocop (1987)? Now imagine the steel mill sequences with mechs.
If this doesn't convinces you to play Salvage Union I don't know what could.

🏗️ A DAY ON THE COUNTRYSIDE: Greenhills Factory Town 🏗️
The downsides of getting your own free factory town seems to be that people rarely want to work for penanuts. This new generation doesn't appreciate hard work and high levels of heavy metals on your bloodstream! 😡
