Started today off right. Turns out the secret to enjoying #grapenuts is making sure your overall cereal mixture is mostly #berries. Used up some of the #salmonberries that I foraged earlier this week too!

I heard one of my favourite #BirdSongs in #Coquitlam last night (kʷikʷəƛ̓əm territory), a loopy upward spiral song belonging to the Swainson's Thrush.
They were singing in a tree in a friend's yard where my kiddo had been picking #salmonberries.

Salmonberries make me smile.
They aren't the sweetest by a long shot, but they've grown everywhere (a walk away, throughout my adult life) that I've lived. They (along with round, red huckleberries) feel like home.
I like their color (shifting from green to yellow to orange to red-gold) and flavor. That flavor always reminded me of a sort of watery Gatorade - not great, but not bad either. I even like the dumb little hairs they have.

Housemate and friend went wandering the forested cliffside down to the water, and returned with a harvest of #salmonberries, which they turned into a #glutenfree crumble with apples and pears. I'm having leftovers for breakfast with vanilla yogourt. #FoodIsGood
