I filed Grievance #2 today concerning Salem's handling of the Verrus data-center NDA.
It asks whether, after the NDA and project were disclosed, the Council's decision to let the arrangement continue without public action amounted to acquiescence, approval, authorization, or ratification.
This is the first step to requesting an investigation with the Oregon Government Ethics Commission.

My first Public Meetings Law grievance concerning Salem’s handling of the proposed $5.1 billion #DataCenters project has now been received by the City.
The grievance addresses the July 13 meeting, when the City Manager publicly disclosed the project and the City’s #NDA without that subject being identified on the agenda.

#Google, through its related company #Verrus, tips its hand despite Gov. Tina Kotek's order canceling the sale of one previously secret parcel and Salem's proposed data-center moratorium.
On July 31, Verrus filed a land-use application involving three nearby properties.

We're facing a $5 billion proposed #Datacenter in #SalemOR by Google who have been talking with the city for 16 months in secret ( #NDA ) and I'm not seeing anything that would prevent them from doing what Musk is doing: bring in their own power generation and EPA regulations be damned. Lehigh County Controller Mark Pinsley recommends requiring new data centers to cover their eventual decommissioning costs. That makes absolute sense: taxpayers should not inherit the cost of dismantling abandoned industrial infrastructure.
