2) I think I was targeted in advance because my fiancé was a weak man who was very much in awe of the leader of these men and tried to impress him. He'd previously been a drug mule for the leader, who had a grow op (illegal back then). Afterwards, I'd asked my partner why he'd set me up like that and he said 'I wanted to give you the choice'. Over 15 years ago I visited Saint John, NB to get married to a man from there. At our wedding reception, he persuaded me to go to a private area with his criminal friends. They held me there for hours while they threatened & terrified me, insulted me, then pretended to befriend me.
They told me they wanted me to go to a secret location 'in the woods' & I could never leave.
