I watched a presentation recently given by the Royal Oak City Engineer on Complete Streets. She stated that our signed "bike routes" are low traffic streets that you can "use to go through the city" and "take on a bike ride with their kids"

This four lane road is one of those bike routes. I am a reasonably fit middle aged man. I do not ride on this road. I would never take a child here. Prevailing speeds are close to 45mph.

We must do better.

Whilst I was out supporting the brilliant #SafeStreetsNow protest in #Leicester yesterday, my wife took this photo after tripping on this raised cover, luckily she was not injured. #PavementParking causes many issues including blocking access and destroying surfaces.

Note this afternoon passing the same spot the vehicle had left and the cover had slotted back into place.
