"The Ottawa Trans Library is a library and community space for trans and gender non-conforming folks. It consists of a lending library on #trans and #GenderIssues and by trans and #GenderDiverse authors and a small #OttawaTransArchives. Visit the OTL at 1104 Somerset St. West in Hintonburg.
Hours are:
Saturday 12 pm to 5pm
Monday, and Thursday 3 pm to 7 pm
Wednesday 12 pm to 5 pmIn addition to regular hours, the OTL holds events at other times. For complete info, visit the library site at https://ottawatranslibrary.ca/.
You can also check out the front page appearance in the Ottawa Citizen.
The lending library consists of books by trans authors, as well as historical, important and interesting works on trans issues and people. I am also interested in acquiring transphobic titles. If you have a collection of trans books or periodicals gathering dust in your basement that you would consider #deaccessioning (that’s a respectful term for 'getting rid of'), please get in touch with me. We will also be building the collection through purchase.
The library has four separate sitting areas, a free coffee and tea station and free WiFi, of course. You don’t need to borrow a book. Meet your friends or talk to the librarian. A safe space with no pressure or judgments. There is only one rule: be respectful of others."

Es gibt linkshändige Scheren, aber nur in wenigen spezialgeschäften für linkshändige Menschen (in den #Simpsons ist es der #Antagonist von #Homer Simpson #Ned Flanders der so ein Geschäft führt und dadurch zur #Grundlage vieler Witze der Serie wird). Würden #Nagelscheren paarweise angeboten, wäre es das #eingeständnis der Gesellschaft, dass die Mehrheit der Gesellschaft davon profitiert, wenn sie eine Minderheit nicht mehr aktiv diskriminiert. Und wo kämen wir denn dann hin? Es wäre ein #Dammbruch, eine Zeitenwende. Wie ließe sich denn dann noch der #GenderPayGap rechtfertigen, oder #RacialProfiling, die #Autokratie, oder die #Abschiebung von Frauen nach #Afghanistan und #Syrien, die #Abschaffung des Bürgergelds, die #Klassenmedizin, die #Flugbenzinsubvention, die nichtverfolgung von cum-ex, cum-cum und ex-cum-cum-cum. Darauf zu verzichten, ist ein geringes #Opfer für die linkshändige $community mit ihren geheimen #safespaces, wo alle #schleifsteine #seitenrichtig sind und alle schleifen mit seitenrichtig gereperten schnürsenkeln gebunden werden und nicht nach sekunden wieder aufgehen, wo alle autos das #zündschloss auf der richtigrn seite haben und nicht nur #wartburg und porsche, wo alle kühlschränke den korrekten #anschlag haben und haustüren zur richten seite aufgehen und niemand sich #schürfwunden beim benutzen des türschlüssels zuzieht. Für Menschen mit Nägeln ist es ein noch geringeres Opfer und für menschen mit fussnägeln überhaupt keines. Federal prosecutors charged Milwaukee County Circuit Judge #HannahDugan with obstruction, a felony, & concealing an individual to prevent arrest, a misdemeanor, in April. The jury acquitted her on the concealment count, but she still faces up to 5 years in #prison on the #obstruction count.
The jury returned the verdicts after deliberating for 6 hours. No sentencing date had been set as of late Thursday.

Der Staat hat das #Gewaltmonopol. Das ist richtig so. Die #Bahn, der #ÖPNV sind #staatlich oder #quasistaatlich. Das Gewaltmonopol ist nicht nur ein #Vorrecht, es ist auch eine #Verpflichtung. Der #Staat muss dafür sorgen, dass jeder in diesem Land sicher und körperlich #unversehrt leben kann. Egal, welches #Geschlecht man hat, wo man herkommt, was man verdient oder an was man glaubt oder auch nicht. In einem Land, in dem einzelne Gruppen #SafeSpaces brauchen, hat der Staat versagt, völlig. Denn #Sicherheit zu bieten, ist seine zentrale #Aufgabe.
Wer #Frauenabteile fordert, weist damit auf einen zweifellosen #Missstand hin. Aber er schaut nur auf seine #Bedürfnisse, er grenzt aus, er sicht das große Ganze nicht und was die eigentliche #Pflicht jener ist, die unser #Gemeinwesen regieren, organisieren und verwalten.
