Microsoft Defender mistakenly targets Google search links
Microsoft Defender for Office 365's Safe Links feature has mistakenly flagged Google search links as malicious, blocking users from accessing legitimate search results. This faulty security classification is currently preventing users from opening harmless links.

If you publish content on the web, you should always use original URLs.
Link shortening or safety/surveillance services are all very well, but redirects may not work for everyone:
• The URLs are too long for some older browsers to handle
• They are not human-readable, so hide the ultimate destination
• The provider may withdraw the service at any timeThat's why I made this.

CW: On M365 "safelinks"
Just out of curiosity: does anyone know how trackable M365 "safelinks" are?
By "safelinks" I mean the re-writing of URLs in emails by a link into Microsoft's security scanner. The link is very very long and, I suspect, can be traced back to the individual user clicking on the link.
I assume they do this so that they can find out who's email contains spam / phishing /etc. but, at the same time, if the link is safe they know who clicked on what, when…
Seems "wrong" from a privacy perspective.

Rant: First it was the obnoxious top-posting. Then it was sending non-standard TNEF winmail.dat files to external users by default. Now every link converts to a 500-character safe link, reducing signal-to-noise ratio dramatically. Put it together and it‘s maddening to get an email that says “Here’s a screenshot of what I’m getting.
