  1. Wonderful day for a run at last. It’s been the wettest autumn/winter on record so brilliant to finally get some sun. A proper long slow run over the moors and along the reservoirs. #ultrarunning #running #FellRunning #Saddleworth #Woodhead

  2. First run of the year before breakfast and work today. Weather was ok but fallen trees and water levels tell a tale of our weather over the holidays. #running #Saddleworth #weather

  3. A proper weekend slow run brings up the 2250km for the year. The rain even held off after the first half an hour. Kept it pretty low level to avoid the wind rain and bogs. #Saddleworth #dovestonereservoir #ultrarunning #trailrunning

  4. Lovely run in the purple heather covered moors yesterday. Apart from the plague of flies. The air was thick with them. Any idea what said plague was??! Cleared again when down and out of the heather but on the tops I had to breather through my nose or choke on the darned things - never seen anything like it! #running #trailrunning #Saddleworth #plague

  5. Went with the ‘just keep going’ plan in the end. Stiffness didn’t turn to pain so just kept going. Windswept. Wet. Great fun. #trailrunning #Saddleworth #ultrarunning #running

  6. Some decent weather today, so went on a hilly 10 mile trail run. Probably not the best idea after a tough track session yesterday, legs feel a bit knackered but thoroughly enjoyed it

  7. Today's trail run was interesting! Started off glorious weather so headed up into the hills. Got an invite to lunch while out, so had to do a bit of on the spot re-routing.
Then the heavens opened and got stuck in a blizzard.
Lunch cancelled. Then back on 20 mins later. Throw in some public footpaths that were chained shut and had to backtrack. My route may have been a squiggly jumbled up mess, but worth it for a lovely lunch with family!

  8. 22km in the end, including a healthy 650m of climbing. And some serious drifts to navigate. Glorious. #running #trailrunning #uksnow #Saddleworth

  9. Training plan today for the #ultra says 26km. It’s -5 out and there is snow galore. I love running in snow. Hoping some folks got out in it yesterday so my route has been trodden a bit. Have planned a backup route should the drifts be too deep and untrodden on higher ground. #running #trailrunning #Saddleworth

  10. Lovely run out today. Upping the training. Included a comedy bog hopping 2km detour to bag an extra map square in the middle of the moors that has no paths through it - just squeezed it in by a few yards!! #Running #ultrarunning #training #Saddleworth

  11. 5 miles #running this morning. And for the first time this year, no head torch required as the light of dawn was just enough to see me round. Still chilly though!

  12. That must be my longest trail run at 17 miles. Rock climbing, treacherous icy paths with sheer drops, wading through endless boggy marshes, y'know... the usual! Think I'll sleep well tonight 😂

  13. Nice slow 16km run today. Less than I’d normally do and deliberately slower. All part of the ultra training master plan. #running #trailrunning #saddleworth #mosstodon

  14. Bit of a messy run today... First big fall in my 5 years of running. All is fine, escaped with just a few cuts and scratches on my hand. Lost a glove, found it again, then lost it again (lots of backtracking)! Then the dam across the reservoir was closed so I had to go a much longer way round.

    Still loved it though 😍
