That's it. The end of an era.

After over 40 years of working partnership with @StevenKennard , I have today (as of December 31 2024) closed our business.

We were put out of business partly by COVID but mostly by the greed of the insurance company. Well now they don't get any business insurance from us, thanks to their avarice.

But it's a strange feeling. A bit sad.

But no more GST/HST returns to submit! No more vehicle mileage book to fill in on every trip in the car. No more ... any of it! Free!

Material things shouldn't be important, but feelings attached to them have an impact. Almost 20 years ago, my 2 daughters were in university, & their competitive softball careers were over, and my coaching days were done. Or so I thought.
The league asked me to take on the Mite (age 8 & 9) Allstar team for one final season. It turned out to be one of my most enjoyable years in 2 decades of coaching. This mug was one of the team gifts I received at the end of the summer.

Commodore Liquidation, Heute vor 30 Jahren, am 29. April 1994, beantragt das inzwischen auf den Bahamas angesiedelte Mutterunternehmen Commodore International Limited offiziell die Liquidation. Commodore Deutschland überlebte als noch profitables Unternehmen die Liquidation der Muttergesellschaft zwar zunächst, wurde dann allerdings auch in den Abgrund gerissen. Gegründet wurde das Unternehmen 1954 von Jack Tramiel.

This morning 1030, I met student friends from #Ukraine in #Bewley's in Grafton Street. There was quite a queue & I figured, oh yes, #StPatrick's weekend. But then I realised the upstairs was closed & asked about it.The very nice staff said they can't get enough staff to work in hospitality so are only serving on ground floor &not all of ground floor & the staff have to already live in Dublin because no flats to rent. #SadDay. More of #Ireland shooting selves & country in feet with #housing?

It's been a rough day in our house .. we had to say goodbye to our precious Pixelkitteh .. my sweet orange boy, work from home sidekick and sm namesake. He was really well till a few days ago, but got sick very quickly, and it's a shock to lose him. We will miss him so much.

I may be a little afk for a few days, but please email [email protected] if you need support. Normal screaming for Bangtan + Kpop will resume shortly.

Just discovered that a supremely wonderful, helpful, smart and gentle colleague that I worked and socialised with in the naughties, passed away last August.

Dearest Anton, I will never forget the banter, mutual learning, technical achievements and general fun we shared; nor that time you provided the desperately-needed personal assistance when I was in difficulties.

This was just before I got news of my friend's husband's death, and after a trip to the funérarium to get all the documents & clothes to them, I heard from my siblings that my lovely Auntie Shirley had just died 💔 Tough times for so many x

As I was posting this my neighbor messaged me asking if we wanted a kitten. OF COURSE WE DO but we can’t afford it. 😭😭😭 #sadday

But when she changes her mind in two weeks, because she wants to use proprietary software to make music as a new hobby, is the saddest moment in this damned quarantine. :win3_minesweeper:
