This shit is pissing me off.... How the hell do you agree to block civil lawsuits against a group of drug pushers when any (much tamer) street drug dealer gets jail time and heavy prosecution. These jack asses literally sold heroin to desperate people and they did so knowingly. The Sackler family should be charged with involuntary manslaughter for every person that died as a result of their willful ignorance and serve jail time..... The working class doesn't get passes, why should they?

Now, I'm not a lawyer, but I *have* worked for a campaigning law-firm for over 20 years, and I've spent the same amount of time writing about the sins of the rich and powerful. I've seen a *lot* of threats, both those received by our clients and sent to me.
I've been threatened by everyone from #GwynethPaltrow to #RalphLauren to the #Sacklers. I've been threatened by lawyers representing the billionaire who owned #NSOGroup, the notoroious cyber arms-dealer.

Just finished the book “Empire of Pain” about the Sackler family, how they got their start making Valium and then progressed to OxyContin. I knew they were a warped family but this really lays out their whole strategy of greed and self-righteousness that led to incredible destruction. It’ll piss you off, especially how they bought people at all levels of government to protect their billions. Highly recommended.

I concluded that a powerful family of secretive, reclusive billionaires - the #Sacklers - were recklessly pushing pain meds in ways they knew would likely lead to addiction and death. I concluded that this family was growing unbelievably wealthy doing this, and threatening the press into silence to prevent anyone from writing about it (years later, I would be threatened by the Sacklers' lawyers for doing so).
