I haven't ever been the the Kaali meteorite crater on Saaremaa before, it's pretty insane – this vast, perfectly circular indentation in the ground where this massive rock slammed into the earth thousands of years ago. I can't imagine how the island's inhabitants reacted. But it was thought to have later become a place of ritual sacrifice (an “unusually large quantity of animal bones” were unearthed in its vicinity, so entirely plausible)
