  1. These true #jellyfishes are usually found in ocean zones where #oxygen levels aren't very high - you rarely see them out in cold, open ocean waters. Around the local #YYJ areas - they're mostly found around #SaanichInlet, sheltered bays/harbours around Esquimalt & near #CanoeCove by the ferry terminal. Most jellyfish require higher oxygen levels than egg yolk jellyfishes do. The egg yolk jellyfishes are one of a few who can survive in lower oxygen ocean waters & will survive first few waves of #ClimateCrisis effects in the #ocean.

  6. Eagle's eye view above the #saanichinlet the crinkled waters, glinting. Wind gusts all the gulls far below me. They refuse to bank on principle choosing instead to glide. I am a middle-aged woman with a middle-aged poodle atop a mountain. A short distance away Bald Eagle perched on the highest branch. Laughing.

  11. These are some #oyster beds that I'm working with many others to restore to healthier states in #SaanichInlet on #VancouverIsland . Colonialism & capitalist industry that followed destroyed many #seafood sources for local #Indigenous & local settlers. There was once big clam/ #shellfish gardens & mid tide fish traps in inlet that all got destroyed. There's #remediation project happening now & it will be decades before it's done.
