The fact that different retail outlets have different supplies, really speaks to this being a #capitalism problem, not some supply chain/FDA regulation thing

5 years ago, I spent a week in front of blank slides, sometimes in tears, unable to even conceive of a method by which I could start.

Earlier this week, I did at least manage to gather a lot of content slides from other decks but as of this morning it was all just a jumble.

This morning I took a two-pronged approach

1. Clear the runway: Do dumb things like checking my inbox, getting a drink and music squared away, etc first. THEN take meds and dive in as they ramp up.

2. I was having trouble getting started but also specifically having trouble with the start of the slides. But there's no reason the first slide in the deck has to be the first one created.

For the song I've been working on transcribing, I gave up on "note by note from the beginning" approach. Instead I found spots where it was easy to figure out (single sustained notes, simple melodic progressions, etc). Then I tied those together knowing where the mystery passage had to start and end.

Why not do the same thing with PowerPoint? I definitely know what I want to say in the "design proposal" section. And I think I know what some future work will be. Start with those parts!

That only took like 30 minutes. And with that out of the way, it looked a lot more do-able to find some points to make in the "how did we get here" section.

I now have a (very) rough draft of the talk!

oh god oh god oh god I have to give a 20min talk in April

Making the charts for the last one 5y ago had me crying in front of an empty slide deck for a week. And that's not even the part I hate most!

I no-kidding consider just quitting my job (or worse) every time this happens.

Hopefully #adhd #rx will help with the charts part and probably the talk itself. Not the dread, tho.

First #adhd #rx dose in over 10 days.

It's only been 10m and it's hitting like the first time. Brain is getting quiet. Breathing is slowing. Getting calm and sleepy.

My #adhd #rx was supposed to be filled on 12/28. "Due to limited supply" it wasn't.

After 7 days, I called and they said nobody had any for a radius of 30m.

On day 10 I got a text that "due to limited supply" it may "take longer than expected".

I'm never getting back on this med, am I? #RFK has screwed it up worse than it was before, I assume.

Days 2 & 3 of stopping #adhd #rx are the worst.

This is the morning of Day 2.

This was the patient instruction card I used for the last five years of my practice. Note the exhortation at the bottom "Bring All Your #Medications..."

I could count on one hand the number of times my patients followed that advice. In #primarycare it is impossible to know what the patient is ACTUALLY taking unless they bring the whole bag of bottles in with them... "#Rx meds from five different #doctors in three different systems, plus over-the-counter #drugs, plus mostly snake-oil #supplements that probably aren't causing harm directly but interfere with at least one of the legit meds I have the patient on..."
