Gerade in der Mittagspause habe ich mir die Analyse des Halbfinalspiels vom #rwc25 zwischen Kanada und Neuseeland von Squidge #Rugby angeschaut und so viel Bock bekommen, dass ich gleich mal die Fahrt nach Exeter organisiere, wo die Red Roses am 19. September gegen Kanada spielen :D
Mal schauen, ob ich meinen Arbeitgeber davon überzeugen kann mir mehr Urlaub zu geben, damit ich dann am 26ten auch das Spiel gegen Neuseeland mitnehmen kann ;)

Was ich beim #rwc25 wirklich liebe ist dass es einfach der „Rugby World Cup 2025“ ist. Nicht noch irgendwie extra im Titel erwähnen, dass die Frauenmannschaften spielen. Die Männer waren 2023 und es war nichts anders. Große Stadien, viele Fans, tolle sportliche Leistungen. <3

Da ich etliche Spiele des #rwc25 nicht gesehen habe, hole ich zumindest die Highlights nach, mache Spiele laufen auch einfach nebenher beim Haushalt erledigen.
Die englische Kommentatorin macht echt Spaß zum zuhören. „She uses people as speed bumps“ fasst manches Rugby Spiel schön zusammen.

Well, that wasn't half as difficult for England as I'd been led to believe it might be. As confusing in large parts as I'd expected, though. But, lovely, well done England. World cup winners. Nice ring to it.

Many rules of this code of the sport are difficult for us. In League I think we'd have seen about three dozen knock-on penalties given in a game like this so far. And this penalty advantage that seemingly lasts anywhere up to thirty or so minutes is baffling.

Reminiscing with my missus about the only time we saw a game played at Twickenham but that was one of the #NFL games many years ago. Definitely not a stadium built for 3+ hours of sport because the steep seating and lack of leg-room was excruciatingly painful. The toilets situation and concessions were very poor too. Hopefully those latter two points have improved in the interim for rugby fans.

Die Kanadierinnen tun mir etwas leid. Sie spielen ein tolles Rugby, doch die Engländerinnen sind einfach besser. #rwc25

However, despite playing rugby union for years at school (a centre, since you asked) I cannot remember the rules regarding mauls and rucks and line-outs so I'm largely making up reasonable-sounding ones instead.

We're League people rather than Union, but England in the final means we're going to jump in and give the game a watch. And for no real reason whatsoever we decided that a good, old-fashioned Snakebite & Black would be the perfect afternoon drinking accompaniment.

Beim besten englischen Wetter habe ich natürlich in Reihe fünf gesessen. Zum Glück hat es nur am Anfang geregnet und später kam auch ab und an die Sonne durch. Spannendes Spiel und wieder war Frankreich lange Zeit dran geblieben. Hoffe sie können nächste Woche gegen Neuseeland an ihre Leistung anschließen.

Dann startet der #rwc25 in die Viertelfinale. Es gibt zwar in allen Spielen die klaren Favoriten, aber vielleicht gibt's ja eine Überraschung. Potential ist bei einigen Underdogs auf alle Fälle vorhanden.
