The latest data from the #SuttonTrust suggest that 'widening participation' at the top #universities has almost no impact over the last 25 years... provided you equate 'top' universities with the #RussellGroup which is not a perfect fit.
It would be better to use the THES ranking to identify top universities as some of the top 20, not in the RG are actually do a pretty god job - my own erstwhile institution, Lancaster U, for instance does pretty well on this & is top 10 but not in the RG!

I am currently on #academic cloud nine, as the saying goes.
Just having simple recognition for your effort alongside valuable #feedback is an effective #morale boost and pushes further #enjoyment in the #research I applied to take on for the next 3.5 years.
