    Overview Within the southwestern portion of the State of Alabama, two (2) notable counties to the north of Mobile along Route 17 are Washington and Choctaw Counties. Many of the small towns of the region are located along Route 17 and include the Towns of Chatom, Millry, Silas, Gilbertown, Needham, and Butler. The Towns of Chatom and Butler serve as the county seats of Washington and Choctaw Counties, respectively, with the latter home to the Mason Downtown hotel.
