After playing and improvising a 1d100 system on AD&D, I went and picked up a copy of Stormbringer to look into other 1d100 systems. Maybe get some ideas.
I feel like this game was overlooked in the states, but what do I know.
It is actually quite good. Not perfect. Quite a few things I ended up doing are already present in this game.
But, there is just one thing about all the BRP, Runequest games that bugs me. I am not saying it is wrong or bad, just bugs me. I do not like SIZE being in the same block as other attributes like Strength, Intelligence, etc...
In concept, I like the idea that there are categories of sizes, and things change when you are in those other size ranges, but having it be a STAT that ranges from 1 to 100 does not appeal to me. Feels too fiddly. And I would probably rule that all characters are about the same size range anyways.

In general we write stand-alone adventures, but some of those can be strung together, so that the problems and solutions follow each other. When we do that, we tend to make those into books once we've got enough.

I'm trying to think of something to write about that's NOT politics. I've done a lot of book-related stuff today, so I don't want to overdo that.
I could write about tabletop RPG design. I've been thinking about creating a heavily simplified version of my favorite system, the RuneQuest III system that was published by Avalon Hill; it's a brilliant system, but it's pretty crunchy. Combat in particular can be quite time-consuming.
Ideally I'd like a stripped-down version that can be used for sheetless campaigns. Something that takes numbers out of the awareness of the players so they can focus on real role-playing and getting into their characters.
I know there are a number of variations on the original RuneQuest rules, but I haven't tried them all. Does anyone know if there's a simplified version already out there?

I publish RPG books and scenarios. These are part and parcel of the work.
This little beauty illustrates a spirit found within the world, but it's also used to take up space on the page where I put it, so I don't have to write extra words or expand a stat block.

I really hope @[email protected] succeeds in revamping #Runequest and #Glorantha, and in inspiring new players and world-travellers! #KingofDragonPass, for example, brings the fascinating world of #Glorantha to life through stories both big and small. It is groundbreaking and influential. #ttrpg

Tonight in #runequest, one of my players charged a bandit, who struck first, rolled a critical and my player failed their dodge. 18 points of damage ignoring armour to the abdomen. Whoops, dead character. That’s Runequest.

I played a couple of sessions of #Runequest last weekend at #Cancon, and it got me thinking about methods and furniture needed to run the game.
@MarkMWrites ran one of those sessions. Two things stood out to me. Firstly, he has a keen ear for rising tension, and—I’m not sure I can put it any other way—it informs how he conducts his players like an orchestra. It’s surreal to watch him do this, not least for the intensity it brings to a game.
