As a member of the PPE fraction, I am thrilled to welcome Ursula von der Leyen as the new Commission President. I am confident that she will work closely with Josep Borrell and others to promote our shared European values.
We all want to assert our position as Europeans in a multilateral rules-based world order, and we must work together to defend our interests and protect our common values. The European Parliament has been constructively involved in implementing the global strategy from the start, and we will continue to do so in this legislative term.
For example, we want to give our input on the new NDICI instrument, while also ensuring that our influence is preserved. The crises that surround us, whether in the east, south or southwest, call for us to work together and find common ground. We have shared interests and no one can leave the table!
