  1. Just got back from a three-mile ruck. Right after I got back, I realized one of my weights was missing from my bedroom...turns out it was in my backpack the whole time, and what I thought was a three-mile, forty-pound ruck was actually my first-ever fifty-pound ruck! I wasn't trying to set personal records today because this was my first ruck in several weeks. I was just trying to get my groove back and accidentally set a PR in the process 🤷🏼‍♂️😂

    Most #fitness trackers use METs to calulate calorie expediture. This makes it fairly difficult to calculate the MET for #rucking, since it varies on #ruck weight, movement speed, and incline percentage.

    As an estimate one can use hiking cross country[^1] at 6.0 MET and taking the difference of hiking hills, 12 lb pack[^1] and hiking up hill[^1] one sees that every 2 lbs adds 0.1 MET.

    \[MET = 6.0 + (extra weight in lbs) / 20\]

    For example, let a person carry a 45 lbs ruck, then the MET is

    \[MET = 6.0 + 45 / 20 = 6.0 + 2.25 = 8.25\]

    To fill up a sandbag the obvious material is sand. This can be found at your local sand beach, riverbed, or playground. All public sand should only be borrowed for the duration of the #workout and returned once done at ideally the same location where initially taken from.

    A lighter alternative is cat litter, since this material is built to be liquid absorbent it is best to pack the grains in at least one sturdy plastic bag before placing it into the filler (a shell to hold the material before placing into the workout sandbag) and/or sandbag.

  24. 1/ Unser #Klimakanzler Olaf „Machen Sie sich keine Sorgen“ #Scholz meint, wir könnten 1,5 Grad noch schaffen. Vielleicht wäre das so, wenn wir jetzt #Ruck und #Zeitenwende und #Doppelwums machen würden, aber wir subventionieren ja fossile Energieträger, schaffen kein #Tempolimit usw. Das wäre mal die nationale Ebene, auf der internationalen Ebene gibt es auch noch viel zu tun.

    Das 1,5Grad-Ziel ist lediglich noch theoretisch erreichbar. Ich war am Freitag bei einer Diskussionsrunde und dort war auch jemand von #ExtinctionRebellion. Er hat erklärt, was XR so macht und was die Ziele sind. Und eins ist: #TellTheTruth. Ich dachte immer: Ej, joh, alle können alles wissen. Die Information ist da, was wollen die denn? Aber wenn man einen Bundeskanzler hat, der sich vorn hinstellt und sagt: „Hej, ho, 1,5° ist easy! Wir können das schaffen, wir müssen bloß mal eben alles auf Solarzellen umstellen.“, dann denke ich, dass die Forderung Tell the Truth immer noch sehr aktuell ist. Denn die Message ist nicht: „Machen Sie sich keine Sorgen!“ Die Message ist: #WeAreFucked. Und wir sollten uns bemühen, möglichst schnell aus der fuckedness rauszukommen oder es zumindest abzumildern. Und zwar nicht mit 100 Mio sondern mit 100 Mrd. So wie #FridaysForFuture das auch fordern, die mal kurz im Bild zu sehen waren.

    Übrigens hat Angela #Merkel, soweit ich mich erinnern kann, nie falsche Sachen über die #Klimakatastrophe gesagt. Sie hatte lediglich so Dinge wie #alternativlos und #Pillepalle kombiniert.

    On the 31st October was the Haunted Ruck in #Augsburg hosted by #AuxRuck. It consisted of a 12km #ruck with a nature portion that was moon and lantern lit and a city portion where various historic significant details were shared.

    When thinking of the title “City of Bridges” Venice comes to mind and it has about 430 bridges, in contrast Augsburg has about 530, so 100 more. This is minute compared to other cities like Amsterdam and Hamburg having 1000 and 2000 respectively.
