the kyrgyz (pronounced "Russian") #crypto exchange #Grinex (a successor to #Garantex, the exchange beloved by #ransomware gangs all over the world) was "hacked" and ~$15 million worth of user's crypto was "stolen"¹. they're blaming the CIA or MI6 or whatever.
(also happens to be the exchange on which the #Rusian #ruble backed #stablecoin #A7A5 was launched last year)
¹ it might have actually been hacked but this is crypto so you should always assume it's an #exitscam until proven otherwise.

@ScottLucas or could it be that the #US Government has done so much to devalue the #USDollar (and all other major currencies) that the #Russian Central Bank no longer has to defend the #Ruble as aggressively.

True Russian inflation is over 20% per year (correlate with interest rate), and the amount of rubles in circulation has roughly doubled during the war (Russia is printing money).
So the value of the ruble has halved, but Forex exchange rates have only dropped around 15%.
So then Russia is not using Rubles to trade.
I suspect Russia is trading with Bitcoin (Russia used little gold).

The #Ruble drops, #interestrates are sky high, #inflation: you can't kill or maim hundreds of thousands of your men on folly while directing a huge part of your economy to #shells and #tanks and put that on the national credit card, without serious long term ramifications.
Even if you take all of #Ukraine tomorrow. You're looking at years or even decades of pain.
