El salsero panameño Rubén Blades recibirá el Premio Billboard Ícono en Miami.

Miami.- El salsero panameño Rubén Blades recibirá el Premio Billboard Ícono, en reconocimiento a sus más de cinco décadas de trayectoria, durante los Premios Billboard de la Música Latina, que se celebrarán el 22 de octubre en Miami, informó este jueves la organización.
El músico y compositor ha grabado más de 25 álbumes, compuesto cientos de canciones y colaborado con artistas de salsa, rock, jazz, pop, hip-hop y reguetón.
«Estoy agradecido con todos los que han contribuido a lo largo de más de cincuenta años para hacer posible que mi trabajo sea reconocido hoy», dijo Blades en un comunicado.
«Nadie tiene éxito sin ayuda. Es importante reconocer las contribuciones de todos los músicos, arreglistas, compositores e ingenieros con los que he trabajado, así como del grupo que ha estado a mi lado en este viaje durante los últimos 16 años, Roberto Delgado y Orquesta de Panamá», agregó.
El impacto de Rubén Blades en la salsa
El reconocimiento distingue a artistas cuya trayectoria se ha mantenido vigente y que se han convertido en referentes de su género.
Blades fue una figura de la revolución de la salsa en Nueva York en la década de 1970 y amplió los límites del género al incorporar influencias del rock, jazz, música panlatina y sonidos de distintas partes del mundo. Sus canciones también han abordado historias cotidianas y asuntos sociales.
El salsero continúa grabando y realizando giras internacionales y recientemente lanzó ‘País portátil’ junto con Roberto Delgado y Orquesta, un álbum de ocho canciones interconectadas que aborda temas como migración, corrupción, encarcelamiento, responsabilidad social y esperanza.
Los Premios Billboard de la Música Latina se transmitirán el jueves 22 de octubre y tendrán como máximos nominados a los exponentes del regional mexicano Peso Pluma, con 17 candidaturas, Tito Double P (15) y Fuerza Regida (12), seguidos por la colombiana Karol G (9), el bachatero Prince Royce (8) y Bad Bunny (7).
Como parte de la Semana Billboard de la Música Latina, que se celebrará en Miami del 19 al 22 de octubre, Blades también participará además en una sesión Icon Q&A con Leila Cobo, directora de Contenido de Billboard. –sn–
