And the highlight, for me at least, was the ham radio station GB3RS. Fully operational and served 7 days a week, 363 days a year, by more than 60 RSGB volunteers. Very impressive service, excellent station and radio exhibits.
Thanks to Laurie, Victor and ? for the nice chat. 🙂 -
A message from a recently-retired RSGB director on the Workshop group, openly stating that anyone who "complains too much" or "[who the Board feels] is unduly negative" is "put on a Vexatious Members/Complainants list and ignored".
To me that explains so much about how the #RSGB has ended up in the state it's in.

Yet another example of grumpy old hams making it difficult for starting hams, just because they can. Gatekeeping at its best.

Time for a #cupoftea before I give a talk at @G4SKM about the #RSGB #Brickworks scheme.

Well that's a fucking slap in the face from the #RSGB. (Yes, I am all over the place with radio tech at the moment.)
Online licence exams are not available to Linux users. Pretty arse-backward for a society that started as tinkerers, inventors, and innovators.

Just back from a 2 day binge-dive into operating a handful of different #WebSDR radio receivers, as a returning #radio #amateur. Picking up the hobby again after 20 years of parenting and jobbing.
Now waiting for #RSGB to get back to me, to hopefully verify the callsign I chose 25 years ago, so I can renew it.

Looking for #recommendations for #usb #wideband #radio #receiver please. Interested in #VLF up to a few #GHz, mostly want to hear #sferics, #hamradio, #shortwave, #solar, #jovian and any curiosities besides.
Would one single #SDR receiver span all that comfortably? Could it be used with some sort of computer visualisation software to watch the passband go by over time?
Got my #RSGB M-class callsign over 20 years ago, now curious about RF again :)

Passed the UK Amateur Radio Foundation test today! 92% pass. Two confusing questions. Just waiting for cert so I can register call sign. #hamradio #amateurradio #rsgb

Last autumn I spoke about Elmering in an online world at the #RSGBConvention in the UK. The video is now released on their channel #hamradio #elmering #rsgb #convention #nrrl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqTWKJFWB7U

Another successful UKAC night, this time on 13cms. We can only use this band when the weather is agreeable, which it was on Tuesday evening! #UKAC #RSGB #AmateurRadio #HamRadio #13cm

This headline made me do a double-take, until I realised it was #RoadSafety Great Britain rather than #RSGB (#radio society of Great #Britain) for #RadioAmateurs - TBH if any #hams *are* pulled up for #DUI (unless they are prog-rock loving #hippies who still indulge now and then , which isn't that uncommon round here, quite a few #seniors been nicked recently) its more likely to be happen due to #drugs they got prescribed legally for age-related health conditions (usually #benzodiazepines and #opiates) than #partydrugs (beware - even a legal prescription is *not* a "get out of jail free" card, and an OM who ends up mounting the kerb trying to adjust his VFO whilst driving might well be swabbed / blood tested)

We tried using a Flex 6400 at G3PYE for the #rsgb 80m SSB contest a couple of weeks ago for the first time - only to find no audio from the headset mic.
Two headsets, same problem. Headset on the Elecraft K3 worked fine.
Just found the issue: Sennheiser connect tip to ring on the mic jack. Flex connect ring to shield on the mic socket.
Solved with a short adaptor cable which I must now try not to loose before the next contest... #hamr

Get involved with the RSGB LoRa high-altitude balloon challenge
I like the look of the #RSGB LoRo high altitude balloon challenge.
The project has been developed by the RSGB Outreach team and takes place on Saturday 20 September. #hamr #hamradio #amateurradio
