Just got back from the fanciest restaurant I've ever been to - the 2 Michelin Star Restaurant Sat Bains in Nottingham.
We've intended to go for years but never had the time (or the money!) so when our eldest presented us with a booking for Christmas, we were very pleased.
Hang the expense (and it was *very* expensive) - I have never eaten such incredible food anywhere. The word exquisite doesn't even come close.
Beans on toast for the rest of the year!

"The Regulatory Standards Bill has passed with the backing of the coalition parties.
National and New Zealand First agreed to pass the bill into law as part of their coalition agreements with ACT.
The bill has faced fierce pushback from the public, with more than 98 percent of public submissions opposed."
#RussellPalmer, 2025
Parliamentary supremacy at its most antidemocratic. In 2026 I will vote for a party that makes scrapping it a bottom line.
-
"Democracy eh!" The select committee report on the Regulatory Standards Bill is in. 📝166,000 submissions. ❌98.7% opposed. Yet National are going to continue supporting it. 🗣New Zealand could not have been louder, but Luxon still isn’t listening. #NZPol #RSB #Aotearoa #NewZealand

In response to #RNZ publishing random reckons I thought this particular reckon deserved a complimentary counter reckon.
Here’s my reckon.
#NZPol PM Luxon is undeniably incompetent but if he is proven to be foolishly arrogant enough to ignore 90+% of the NZ public and pursue this unconstitutional and anti democratic #AtlasNetwork backdoor assault on NZ democracy and sovereignty then he and the National Party will suffer a backlash so severe he will be wishing he was still working as a simple deodorant salesman.
Unlike Luxon, imo, Winston Peters is neither naive or silly enough not to take advantage of this opportunity to poach a large proportional slice of the National and Act voter base and potentially force a snap election.
In conclusion, having watched much of the 30 hours of oral submissions on the #RSB I am honestly surprised by just how little media attention the devastating demolition of Act and in particular #DavidSeymour the Finance and Expenditure Committe has received.
Perhaps the #NZInitiative aka Atlas Network have threatened media with local advertising boycotts? After all the Act Party and its supporters did threaten and dox an active opponent to this legislation, lawyer Tania Waikato, to the extent she required a security escort when attending NZ Parliament to make her oral submission. These are not nice people, they are white collar criminals who operate like the mob.
Meanwhile NZ media suffers a growing distrust in its reporting…. Wonder why?
-
#AtlasNetwork are far reaching and a threat to all #indigenous peoples and sovereign democracies across the world.
#NZPol take note.
These are the same people behind the #DavidSeymour and #ACT Party's #RSB Regulatory Standards Bill trying to be introduced by Chief Corrupt 🤡 #Luxon against the will of the people.
-
I've been blown away by the proportional volume and quality of oral submissions opposing #DavidSeymour and Act's appalling unconstitutional and undemocratic #RSB (Regulatory Standards Bill).
I find it has restored my faith in the people of #Aotearoa #NewZealand despite the best efforts of this #Luxon led #NZPol coalition of corruption to destroy the wairua of Aotearoa.
Highly recommend watching these submissions.

I missed the submission deadlines for the Poor Debanked PlanetWreckers Bill and the Anti-Wellbeing Bill. But even once they close, it's not too late to email all the party leaders using their Parliamentary email address. Which also puts your views on the public record, and keeps our total opposition to this casual coup live in their minds.
Links to those bills here, along with the text of my submission on the Deregulatory Standards Bill;

If anyone watched Jordan Williams of the #AtlasNetwork NZ Tax Payers Union's oral submission on the #RSB, Jordan was asked why is there so much opposition to the RSB, to which the only answer Jordan Williams could offer was "Because it is an ACT bill, it's as simple as that."
In other words they have no counter argument to the near on 90% opposition to this unconstitutional and undemocratic proposed legislation. #NZPol

HA HA HA HA HA ... "Red-tape bill risks cost blow-outs, climate backsliding, officials warn" - Treasury has issued a blistering warning over the Government's controversial red-tape bill, slamming it as costly, risky and unlikely to improve regulation. #RSB #NZPol #Aotearoa #NewZealand

#RSB submission away! If you haven't done one yet, you've still got about 12 hours. All the resources you need are gathered here;

"Four core pieces of legislation set the neoliberal norms and disciplines to guide the project: the State Sector Act 1988, the Reserve Bank Act 1989, the Public Finance Act 1989, and the Fiscal Responsibility Act 1994. These were complemented by binding and enforceable international trade and investment agreements that expanded to diverse areas of policy."

The NZ Parliament website seems to be struggling.
I am going to guess everyone is submitting last minute and smashing that server's load.If you are in line, stay in line!

The Ministry of Regulation is like the Ministry of Truth in 1984; the name is the opposite of what it does. As the NZ variant of DOGE, it's really the Ministry for deRegulation.
If you haven't submitted on the Regulatory Standards Bill yet, which would give them an influential role in the NZ legislative process, you've got until 1.00pm on Monday, 23 June 2025. I'd get it in before Monday though, in case the Parliamentary servers melt under the load again;

Regulatory Standards Bill Subm... -
For the first time in NZ’s history, we could see corporations demanding taxpayer handouts from government for any environmental, health and safety, or cost of living protections that affect the use of their property… IF David Seymour's Regulatory Standards Bill passes.
There are now only 4 days left to submit. Do it now: https://greenpeace.nz/1c3hke

Greenpeace submits against the Regulatory Standards Bill and its far-right fringe ideas

just made my #RSB submission... the below had some tips and there was plenty to riff off... (and there was plenty of swearing but refrained from putting that on paper in case it upset the delicate 😐 ) https://www.greenpeace.org/aotearoa/story/submission-guide-regulatory-standards-bill/

It is now LESS THAN A WEEK to make your submission opposing the regulatory standards bill.
If you were moved to make a submission against the treaty principles bill and the fast track act but you haven't done one yet on the RSB then know this...
It is in effect those two nasty bills/acts rolled into one with the added truly disgusting libertarian idea that corporations should be compensated for rules that protect the environment, deal with climate change, stop forestry workers from dying on the job... etc etc.This is how you do it:
1. Head straight to the Government website.
2. All you need to do is fill in the contact details they ask for, and then on the next page, make sure you write:"I oppose the Regulatory Standards Bill. It should be thrown out immediately."
P. S. Do not add “Boop beep boop, I'm not a bot, David Seymour, but are you?“ at the end because I already did.

RSB submission done.
The closing date for submissions is 1.00pm, Monday, 23 June 2025.

Don't let Seymour call you a "bot", do your submission and let yourself smile when you hit that submit button! #RSB #NZPol #Aotearoa #NewZealand
