Olimex RP2040pc is a $16 single-board computer powered by an RP2040 microcontroller
The Olimex RP2040pc is a compact single-board computer that measures 80 x 65mm (3.15″ x 2.56″) and features four USB 2.0 ports, two USB Type-C ports (one for power and one for programming), and HDMI, and 3.5mm audio ports, as well as a few additional connectors.
At the heart of this little computer is a 133 MHz RP2040 microcontroller with two ARM Cortex-M0 processor cores. While the chip isn’t exactly a high performance processor, the board can be programmed using the Raspberry Pi C-SDK or MicroPython and you can use a Reload emulator to use the RP2040pc to run Apple ][, Apple ][e, and Oric-Atmos 8-bit games and other programs.
The RP2040pc is available for purchase for 15 Euros (about $16), but it’s also an open source device: schematics and KiCAD source files are available, as well pre-compiled software images. So theoretically you could build or modify your own… although the price is low enough that it’s almost certainly going to be cheaper and easier to just buy one from Olimex.
Some of the board’s other features include an on/off power switch, a connector for an optional LiPo battery, a built-in set of left and right buzzer speakers (which are located so close to one another that I’m reluctant to call them “stereo,” and EXT1 and UEXT connectors.
The board has 16MB of SPI flash storage.
