  2. English Electric Lightning T.5 The Lightning was developed from the P.1 research aircraft, and was a fast-climbing Mach 2 interceptor which saw service with both the Royal Air Force and the Royal Saudi Air Force. The power of two reheated Rolls-Royce Avon engines was enough to enable the aircraft to climb at over 20,000 ft/min! This trainer version is unusual for a fighter aircraft in that it had side by side seating (during this era the RAF's trainers all had this feature). The biggest failing of the aircraft was that initial versions had such a small fuel load that it was practically a 'point defence interceptor'. This example is seen at the Newark Air Museum, Nottinghamshire #RAF #RoyalAirForce #EnglishElectric #fighter #interceptor #RoyalSaudiAirForce #Newark #airmuseum #museum #avgeek #aviationlovers #Mach2 #fuelload #Lightning #RollsRoyce #RollsRoyceAvon #reheat

  6. Panavia Tornado F.3 The Royal Air Force were one of only three air arms to utilise the interceptor version of the Tornado, the others being the Italian and Royal Saudi Air Forces. Ultimately, all three countries replaced the interceptor Tornado with the Eurofighter Typhoon. This preserved example of the F.3 is seen here in the RAF Museum in Hendon. #fighter #RAF #RoyalAirForce #Tornado #Typhoon #RoyalSaudiAirForce #ItalianAirForce #Italian #avgeek #aviationlovers #eurofighter #panaviatornado #aviation #museum #rafmuseum #hendon

  10. 9H-ABG, Boeing 737-2Y5(A), Air Malta, at London Gatwick, some time in the early 1990s.

N814PA, Airbus A310-324, Delta Air Lines, on final approach to Runway 24 at Manchester Airport, as seen from the junction of Shadowmoss Road and Ringway Road, some time between November 1991 and April 1994.

A4O-GO, Boeing 767-3P6ER, Gulf Air, being pushed back from Gate 22 at Manchester Airport, some time in the early 1990s, as seen from Level 13 of the Terminal 1 Car Park.

G-11-782, Hawker Siddeley HS748FAA Srs 2B, Transair Cambodia, at Manchester Airport, some time in 1992 or 1993.
This spent a lot of time parked in various spots around the airport, awaiting delivery, and I’m not sure it ever got to the Far East.

467, Lockheed C-130H Hercules, Royal Saudi Air Force, taxiing out to the runway, at Manchester Airport, as seen from the Cargo centre, some time in the 1990s.

G-RMCT, Shorts, SD3-60-100, Gill Airways, in basic Aer Lingus colours, at Manchester Airport, some time in the 1990s.
