NJ and I invented a phrase to describe the early stages of #drawing development: Dumb Lines.

From the dot-to-dot style wire frame to initial concept, it is okay for it to look silly, rough, incomplete.

So this is my new sentient race after its Dumb Lines stage. Yes, it has a long way to go before I'm satisfied it represents what was in my head when I wrote the first character of this species into a recent chapter.

Just playing with a couple of pens to see if they might work for urban sketching; not the sort of thing I normally draw, so all quite new to me. This was knocked up with a Sailor Fude fountain pen and a Pentel brush pen filled with water; nice and simple to carry when I try this outdoors. Haven't done a pet portrait in a very long time and I sent the photo of my initial progress to the requestor who was very excited for it. She said "It looks amazing already!" I chucked to myself and thought "Until I fuck it up."
