This morning I went to see the rare Western Swamphen in my Backyard again.

In the Netherlands, this is a very rare bird. The nearest breeding grounds are Spain and France.

It's been here for 44 days now.
What a beautiful bird with those purple-blue feathers and its red beak, head shield, and legs.

It really stands out among the black coots.

Visdief...

De #Visdief is een algemene stern in Nederland.
Visdieven hebben een zwarte kopkap die doorloopt tot de nek en hebben een lange oranjerode snavel met een zwarte punt.

De eerste Visdiefjes komen eind Maart aan. Ik probeer dan meestal de eerste foto te maken op een meerpaal in de #Rotte

Ze broeden in mijn #achtertuin in het #plasdrasgebied rond de #roeibaan en op de aangelegde visdiefvlotten.
