Double infusion today. @deadnettlez inspired me to start a roselle oil infusion. I didn’t even realize this was a thing. The plant’s antioxidant properties make it great for hair and skin, apparently. I mean, I think I care more about the fact that it makes the oil #pink than anything else. I’m using coconut oil as my carrier. On the right, another batch of sun tea. #roselle #zone10 #TropicalPlants #HerbalRemedies #plants

With the recent frosts my #Roselle & #JerusalemArtichoke plants are no more.
We do have loads of seeds from the Roselle, so we’ll do them again & we have a huge amount of chokes to eat. 👍
The only thing still going is my #PinkPanther #DragonFruit.

We have had some #bigwinds come through.
Our #OxHeart tomato & it’s pot are down on the ground & one of the smaller #roselle plants is lying down IN its pot.
I’ve staked the Roselle back up - its trunk is thicker than my thumb - and yet it was blown flat!

34° Celsius & I’m down.
I’ve been #hydrating all day, taking #electrolytes with some of my water, but I go outside, give the #alpacas & #lambs some lucerne, then water the #Roselle & #JerusalemArtichoke - the next minute liquids are #spewing (the operate word) out of my mouth & I lose all sense of balance.
Naked under the fan now, a bucket beside me if more liquid wants to rush up my throat.

Outside for the first time today.
Neither leg is feeling great but no massive amount of pain.
I went to get water for the #Roselle bushes & tripped with a full load in the watercan.
Luckily(?) our brick letterbox broke my fall.
Ouch! I think that’s me for #gardening today.

The tiny little Roselle was in the same lot of seedlings as the rest!
The Roselle seedling I grew from seed is larger than it is.
It seems to have root problems. When it’s been repotted it has only a tiny ball of roots each time.
I’ve given it up for dead several times. 🤕
It’s in the same potting mix as the others… ? Advice anyone?

It’s here!
We would have posted earlier but we had a minor #emergency with #Chaser the #alpaca.
He got caught up in some fencing wire & we had to catch him to get him untangled.
Some arsehole threw the wire over into our back lot at some point & Chaser discovered it this morning.
Sigh.
He’s fine, but was a little freaked. He must have become tangled after I went to rest my knees.

I came out to feed the lambs & alpacas & saw our first #Roselle flower! 🤗

I was repotting my #Roselle seedlings early last week & got out one of my #opinel folding knives to open a bag of potting mix.
I sliced away & at the end of the bag the opined lock opened & the knife folded!
It went right under my right index finger nail!!
I immediately put antiseptic on the painful cut & put a bandaid over the top of the finger.
No problems until this past weekend when I started getting pain from my finger matched to my pulse.
No redness & looks fine, but very painful.

The raggedy roselle plants that always look on the verge of quitting because I keep forgetting it dries out the fastest of all my plants and still haven't figured out the exact growing conditions it prefers...I noticed flower buds on one plant.
