Since I'm in the problem solving mood thanks to #AdventOfCode, I'm getting back onto #Rosalind to try to tick off the last few problems.
The problems I'm stuck on are ones that don't have properly-specified/explained problems. The one I just completed only had some pseudocode, but it required knowledge about hamming-distance scoring that wasn't explained, and was an odd algorithm that didn't fit properly in my head.

@djsundog @vertigo on the prototype #rosalind I just had another z-axis motor on the other side. The only problem is that after a few days idle the bed slopes because of differing internal friction of the two motors (despite being from the same batch). I was thinking I should connect the two leadscrews with a belt instead but never got to that.

I did things! I mostly hacked on #rosalind and I realized one of the procedures I used to import models from OpenSCAD into blender so that the blender model can be kept up to date with minimal effort is fundamentally wrong, so inspite of several hours of good work I am probably further away from my goal than I (thought I) was when I began. Still, it's personal progress. I was unable to muster any kind of mood or concentration to do creative stuff during the past months.

@z I was specifying a wade extruder for #rosalind until some helpful folks over at the reprap forum sugessted using drakon (https://github.com/AxMod3DPrint/Drakon-Extruder) which I find works quite well. I believe that especially if printed on an SLA it will rock. Also it's much smaller than a wade and will definitely fit in the platform.
