Jussilta hieno teksti #Ropecon tapahtuman tärkeydestä ja vaikutuksesta.
Vähän harmittaa etten päässyt tänä vuonna itse paikalle, vaikka monena vuonna on käyty.(linkitän suoraan Facebookin alkuperäiseen julkiseen tekstiin, koska se on siellä julkaistu... anteeksi, mutten pyydä anteeksi.)

Ropecon oli hyvä ♥️
Ensikertalaiselle alkuun kaikkea oli vaan liikaa, mutta kun löysi ekat tutut ihmiset ja pääsi tekemään jotain muiden kanssa, pääsi hyvin mukaan yhteisölliseen tunnelmaan.
Lempparijutuksi nousi oikeastaan tanssi! Tanssin lähes kaikkea: historiallisia, kansantansseja ja lavatansseja. Aiempaa kokemusta oli, mutta tauon jälkeen oli hyvä kerrata ja täydentää. Varsinkin lavatansseihin löytyi upeita viejiä ja nautin todella.

Onhan tämä ihan ihme pelleilyä miten ollaan algoritmisomen vankeina. #Ropecon viralliseen Discordiin tulevat tapahtuman viralliset ilmoitukset syötteenä Instagramista... ja sen takia kanava on täynnä viestejä, joiden sisältö on keskimäärin "tässä informaatiota asiasta, johon linkin löydät menemällä Instagramin bioon, johon et pääse lainkaan käsiksi ilman että kirjaudut Instaan ja jos et voi sitä tehdä, et saa linkkiä ollenkaan!"
Asiasta annettu palautetta ja kehotettu ottamaan mallia @finncon ista, että viestintä saataisiin johonkin avoimeen someen - bonuksena someviestintää, jossa on paljon tärkeääkin tietoa, ei voi lukea edes upotettuna tapahtuman sivuilta eikä kaikki ajankohtaisasiat tule sivuille lainkaan. Ainakin ehdotukseni fediviestinnästä sai ihastuttavan monta tykkäävää reaktiota Discordissa.
(Ei, ei tarvitse huomauttaa siitä, että moitin insta-vaatimusta vaikka samalla puhun Discordissa tapahtuvasta viestinnästä.)

Unlike the other year when I was in the team competition, they got the #Ropecon2026 jigsaw puzzle event results up really quickly. Anyway here's the results for the solo contest I was in. They stopped timing after 90 minutes and ranked the remainder by number of pieces assembled.
(5/5 for now)

There's always the big jigsaw puzzle in the lobby for people to work on over the weekend, and last year's puzzle was too easy because it was one of those consisting of multiple 1000pc puzzles. It's back to form with a big box this year, but the image is clearly AI (from like 2022 when people still wrote their name as artist credit for using Dall-E etc) so I slapped an "AI makes you stupid" sticker on the box :p
(an artist in the vendor hall was making them with a sharpie)

Went to ropecon and 124€ later, this is my loot.
Stickers, magnets, the donut is a coaster.
A set of finnish rhymes? chants?
The pokemon card sticker, you can put your own image in it.It was fun going in with a different mindset, I was intending to support small creators/artists.

Edit 2: "Stray cat's dream" by Sonja Kallio, didn't get best theme entry but got bronze and was in a two-way tie for people's choice -
Side note, if you're at #ropecon2026 go check out the back of the miniatures hall of fame display, that's where the non-competition pieces are hiding and there are red pandas (I painted but don't own them)

I'm feeling like I don't know why I'm at #ropecon2026 besides to sell at the flea market. I didn't have the luggage space to bring a costume (would've been too subtle to be like a cosplay and be noticed anyway), my diorama is definitely not getting a commendation card (too amateur and personal), I'm not here for games, and the fantasy art and merch is either dark or kawaii or pop culture (all offputting). It's like I feel I'm too old and jaded for this

Ropecon alkaa tänään perinteisesti tieteen merkeissä, eli akateemisessa seminaarissa. Siellä kuulee tutkimuksesta roolipelien, lautapelien, larpin ja muiden liittyvien aiheiden parissa.

Olen menossa Ropeconiin ekaa kertaa! Saa nähdä mitä päädyn tekemään, mutta tavoitteena on ainakin tanssia jotain, pelata jotain ja kuunnella jotain. Saa moikata ja vinkata suosikkiohjelmia!

Kun viikon kenttätyömatkan jälkeen saapuu junalla takaisin Pasilaan, astelee suoraan hakemaan Ropecon ranneketta, josta kiekauttaa kodin kautta pelaamaan pöytäroolipelejä ja coniviikonloppu on vasta edessäpäin niin tietää että arkiruiinit on varmasti tuhottu hetkeksi 🤯

(I really struggle to price stuff and I wonder if people will be more generous now that they are allowing card/mobile payments, or less because nobody has any money to spend)How am I still supposed to work on my diorama I don't know, I want it done tomorrow latest so I can build the display stand and take photos on Thursday
