The brisk smell of a big lake is rather complex. Musky smells of nature in summer, blended with the hints of pine, blooming lilacs, sun-baked sand and driftwood, it can be oh so intoxicating and refreshing. It changes depending on the lake, the season, and what exactly you're up to. Summertime smells are very toasty. You can almost taste the minerals in the air with how intense the sun can be.
The days are long, and full of unrelenting sunshine. For aquatic creatures, this can mean returning to deeper water to cool off. For occasionally aquatic creatures, it may mean hopping up on a shaded platform to enjoy a nice cool breeze.
This tie was done pretty close to the summer solstice. There is an air-conditioning unit to the left of the frame. It's a pretty cozy variant of a mermaid tie. There is also the option of including an armbinder, or otherwise anchoring the wrists to form a cozy hogtie for any wild creatures one may encounter. I may post examples of those in the coming weeks.

I've been careful to avoid posting surprise creations until after the subject has received them. For this one, I had been torn as to which color cord to use for the opalescent figure. After holding them both together against it, my brain did the "Why not both? Both? Both! Both is good." and here is the result :blobcatflower:
I'm still startled every time by how my rhythm gets thrown off by there not being a living breathing subject to attune my tying. But I'm getting the hang of it. Next thing you know, I'll be tying up cool rocks to cool people with magical rope just to see what happens.

The serpentine tie is basically just a series of cow hitches strategically arranged. It's simple, infinitely flexible, and I love that cow hitches always look like little grabbers. Makes me all giggly inside.
New rope tops may still find it a good challenge because if the tension is wrong, it will sag in the wrong places.
Some folks prefer crotch rope, but I generally don't, at least not with ties that are meant to be comfortable. I recommend keeping it to the side which has far more utility in my opinion, and is more comfortable.

Sometimes when it snows, and it's cold enough, the snow is fresh and soft, and while it's terrible for making any snow sculptures, it does something magical. It quiets the sounds all around, and makes everything so much quieter. Some find it serene, and tranquil; a precious opportunity to focus.
Some find it eerie, and the silence fosters a primordial terror not so different to walking upstairs from a dark basement, feeling the hair on the back of your neck quirk up, fighting an urge to sprint the remainder of the distance between you and perceived safety beyond that door left slightly ajar.
What if that door isn't even the same door? What if it's a door you've never seen before? Only appearing in the corner of your eye. The fact that its appearance coincided with your visceral fears is probably something to think about later, once you have reached safety, right?

A heart themed shinju that folds into an improvised hip harness. The hip harness isn't designed to be super yoinkable, but it didn't stop me from testing it. The shinju is yoinkable, as evidenced by this clip.

#CW nude resin figurine and rope art
Another one of the resin figurines. I have a lot of them, so I'll be trickling photos as I have time.
This harness on a person typically uses more strands for the heart shape. But on this figurine that was not going to work well, so I adjusted it.
Also the bottom band is meant to sit at the underbust, but the way the back arches on this particular shape forces the bands to be where they are without additional help.
It is effectively a shinju with an extra couple of weaves, so it's quite a simple tie, but the logistics of non-compressible and unbreathing bottoms adds a different challenge. I didn't realize how much I use the connection to the subject to guide the rhythm of the tie.

The thing with resin is that it doesn't need to breathe like a living body, which is something that is part of my tying ritual and I didn't realize it until it was missing. It also isn't squishy at all, which changes how I need to tension different parts of a tie. My rope bottoms are generally somewhat compressible, even if they think they aren't.
The shape of the resin mould is limiting in certain ways, but it doesn't stop me from decorating :blobcat_box:

A shadow of doubt creeps across your brain like a skitter. What if you are simply bound somewhere, you think with a shiver. And the haze was simply some sort of spiderweb. And now you are swaddled like prey, intoxicated by the sweet kiss of your own demise, and experiencing the interstitial space in between.
It is a derealizing thought, and this entity seems to be aware that you are having it. They quietly wait for you to think through it yourself. They've already told you how to leave, but if this is a liminal space on death's doorstep, would you be in a hurry to leave? You don't know what awaits you out there. In here it would be only a little death, as a treat. There is no way to actually know if a bigger one awaits outside. They don't offer you any answers, but do offer to cage up their knockers to avoid any "knocking on death's doorstep, as you say." their words end with a sort of giggle.
True to their word so far, red ropes grow out of somewhere out of view behind them. You blink away a haze over your vision and then just take a moment to study what you see... Continued in the #AltText

The air smells sweeter somehow. You're posture is better with your wrists tied back this way. Maybe you should try it more often. While you were coalescing from this novel experience, the foxxo by the wall, expresses a need for water. Did you know that you're supposed to water foxxos more frequently than plants? It's true!
The keeper simply provides a water bottle, still capped. They express a playful confidence that between the pup and the foxxo, they can figure out how to open it. Unlike the last time, the pup can only use one hand at a time. She might have asked you for help, but the predicament wasn't clear until it was right in front of the foxxo. This has the same energy as a pup enthusiastically fetching a stick through a door that is too narrow.
They both pause for a moment, eyeing the bottle tentatively, considering the problem. The attempt is documented in Part 5.

#CW for rope over clothes
This is a portion of a tie from earlier this year. I remember having to fiddle with it a bunch to get certain components to behave correctly. This was part of the ending though when cleaning up in the back. It's a stylistic flourish that is completely unnecessary from a functional perspective. But this particular weave was immensely satisfying to my brain.
The two rivers of rope from the top of the frame are drawn to each other, overshoot the first time and swerve back, then merge before parting ways again. Don't worry, they get reunited in the front with a lot of swirlies involved.
And for those wondering if the handle is actually secure, yes, it is. If you had the strength and the subject was willing, you could lift them like a suitcase technically. I'd recommend some leg anchoring in that scenario though.

So, this is actually just a preview for some #AltAfterDark posts (with much better angles imo) in my queue. These will be in addition to the remainder of the last guest enrichment sequence I left off on.
I try to test some harnesses on myself before rope bottoms. Obviously, it's impractical to do this depending on the tie, but it's good to understand the different quirks.
This is a _sloppy_ execution. In my defense, horizontal dominant torso ties are really tricky to get right as a self tie, especially the first time. This is because it's nearly impossible to keep the correct tension during the tie given all the twisting and contorting involved. But, here it is!
My nipples are _very_ sensitive at baseline. If the wind hits them weird I might squeak and need to shield them. I waited until the tie was complete to actually arrange them on the nips to minimize the time. I think I overloaded my nerve circuits because not only did I taste the echo of the body wide sensations for hours afterwards, but I can literally conjure up a vivid memory looking at this photo. :neobot_sign_help:

This will also help illustrate why it's named "Tail through Three Figure 8"
This assumes you've done the appropriate negotiation and discussion with your scene partner. This tie features Esmie, short for Esmeralda, a squishmallow also known as Zelia the Giraffe.
Step 1: Start with a simple loop around the subject and reverse tension. This is a larks head pattern, and that's just running the tail through the bight and reversing tension.
Step 2: After running another loop around, slide two fingers under three of the strands on the side of the tension direction. Use these fingers to grab the tail and pull through. "Tail through Three" and reverse tension
Step 3: Repeat step 2, but now with the new direction of tension we are on the other side of the bight, using a couple of fingers to grab the tail and pull through.
Step 4: Now you've completed the figure 8, reverse tension again, and start the next wrap around your subject. It will be the same direction as the previous wrap. This is also a good opportunity to check and make sure the tension is even across the strands. Run two fingers between the rope and your subject all the way around as needed to verify the tension and make adjustments. This itself is a sensory experience so integrate it into the scene as you see fit.
Repeat the above steps until you are satisfied with that stage of the wrap. Extend rope as needed. :ablobcatheart:

I'm sketching out some rope corset designs, and figured I'd share one of my favorite ways to make a busk. This is a tiny sample of the tail-through-three-figure-8 wrap (tt3f8 for short).
I like how it has a chain stitch vibe, but it's much more stable during the tie so it's easier to keep tension. The downside is that it's two tail pulls per loop which can be a deterrent for folks that dislike tail pulls. Personally I enjoy the meditative aspect and more tail pulls means more opportunities to add little whip cracks when untying.
Oh, and in case you missed it previously, I have some red rope now. It's good to have a diverse palette so I can be more creative with strategic color coordination.
PS: This is 100% safe for all workplaces so I am not marking it as sensitive. It's Fiber Art!

You've all probably seen some fun double knot ties I've done. It's such an effective way to include a decorative element into just about anything. Here is an example of a servers limb catch. Note the double coin knot adding a nice flourish to the backwards yoinking of individual fingers.
Shout out to @lillieeatssouls for being a test subject and scratching post. She will be featuring in a future story with a more thorough introduction.

This was a tribute to the April #FullMoon using UV reactive hot flamingo pink nylon rope. It's slightly fancier than a regular pentagram harness and much more stable as one moves around. It's also yoinkable.

Another version of handles for the "love handles" or handlebar harness.
This iteration uses the cored square knot for handles. It looks fancy but it's rather simple. The cored square knot works slightly better for larger hands, although I wouldn't say it's universally better. It does use a bit more rope though, hence the missing waist band this time. Note that the waist wrap was purely decorative so this version is just as yoinkable as the last one :neofox_peek_owo:

The ever so simple classic handlebar harness. Also commonly known as the "love handles" harness. It's not designed with suspension in mind, but is designed for yoinkability in many directions, and for being comfortable and stable when lots of movement is involved.
There are many variations of this with different types of bunting and handle patterns. This is perhaps the simplest one. The waist wrap is just one way to use up extra rope, and is just decorative. The hip band around the saddle points is where the force goes. Because the thigh wraps are wiggly, they don't dig in sharply and are pretty comfortable considering it's thin banded.
