Roses are red,
Violets are violet.
That's why they're called violets,
You stupid bastard.

Helios, why do you scream?
I'm right here—exposed to your beam.

You burn through sky, I stand below,
In silence lit by all you know.

English rose, I chase your flow—
Your blush, your bloom, your afterglow.

Claude Monet, "Woman with a Parasol – Madame Monet and Her Son" (1875)

𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: "𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘂𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱" 𝗯𝘆 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 -

Shelley's revision of Aeschylus's "Prometheus Bound" as one element of his argument for artistic freedom is a massive (but hardly epic) poem, full of un-subtle characterizations and a head-scratching conclusion.

Classic, yes, but Shelley's long poem works overhard to propound its argument amid a myth made melodrama.

@lotographia My year 10 English teacher set reciting Shelley’s Ozymandias from memory as an assignment. At 46 years, I still know and love every word. Way to go Mr Barton! #teaching #romanticpoetry

Love

on this cool night darling
i think of you

as this soft silky breeze
wafts in through the window
i can feel it blow
wispfully against your hair

memories of love
of warmth
gently nudge my quiet heart
