Je ressors (et dépoussière) un vieux post qui pourrait intéresser des gens. Il y est question de franponais, de pâtisseries et de transcription du français en japonais et vice-versa.

See http://xahlee.info/kbd/Japan_keyboard_layouts.html for a nice overview of #Japanese #Keyboard layouts (written in English), covering both #Romaji and #Kana based input.
They describe Qwerty Romaji as “the most popular layout used in Japan” but also “the least efficient method and layout”. Sounds rather like Qwerty for English!

I was trying to revise my #Kanji with #Wanikani, but I've ended up #YakShaving and have actually spent more time recently thinking about #Romaji, reading up on #JapaneseLanguage entry methods, and filing documentation bug reports on alternative keyboard layouts and a Linux IME that I don't even use (yet?)

I am not a #polyglot, not even close, but I do like learning languages. I speak none fluently, but I could probably function as a tourist who knows enough to get by in some of those countries that speak them. Anyway, I had no problem with remembering the #CyrillicAlphabet, which I think now is because it has so much in common with the #RomanAlphabet. I had no frame of reference with the #hirigana or #katakana #syllabary and there was no #romaji in the #japanese #Duolingo test.
