As you may know, I received a five-year sentence for making a 20-minute #Zoom speech calling for civil disobedience in July. I was not at all involved in any actions or their planning.
I was there to explain, as I have done hundreds of times before, why we have to peacefully step up and stop the greatest crime in #human #history: the decimation of the lives and livelihoods of billions of people by the continued emission of carbon.
My sentence is the longest since the Second World War for peaceful #CivilDisobedience, and the reason is obvious.
Stopping the burning of #fossilfuels at the speed needed involves challenging the most powerful #political and #corporate interests. With the rise of a #climate denier to the US presidency, this situation has never been more urgent.

Since founding Extinction Rebellion in 2018, I have been the UK's most successful climate campaigner. I set up the largest climate civil disobedience organisation in the Western world.
At the time of my imprisonment, I was doing vital international networking to bring people together and fundraising for the global resistance movement we need to stop the terror that is being imposed upon us.
The world is going to go over 2 °C in the next decade.
Let's be in no doubt about what will happen: appalling suffering and injustice beyond imagination.
At the same time, precisely because of this dire situation, there is enormous potential to build a #global revolutionary #movement to create new, revitalised democracies as the #alternative to the #fascism waiting in the wings. This is the most crucial moment in history - and it requires serious money to #build solid organisational #structures. I am at the centre of these efforts.

I guess apart from that unthinkingness one has to somewhat anyway "back your own team" or side with who pays the bills... ?
Not many relationships or structures seems to allow logic or reasoning...or space between people to figure it out using more moderated way... with all levels of management or peers present or just something more neutrally somehow....
looooool dream world talking there!!So kind of I don't blame people, because those that do think (those I've seen and all the net I've tried) they themselves are in a big pickle about just speaking or thinking about how bad it is and constantly very troubled what to do about it (and a lot ignore it).
So while thinking is good process (lol funny to say that) there isn't much obvious way show by others other than semi-suicide to use your own body as a kind of undoing from being born in debt-based unthinking society that you can mostly ONLY either continue doing the same debt-based stuff or take the hit yourself somehow in doing something #Greta / #Rogerhallam / #Assange style to try wake others up a bit more.Aaaaanyway... just on the subject of people in mass going along with evil, here's an interesting video that might explain it well !

#Psychology of people is perhaps not just a modern thing but it's stronger-than-ever today in the mindset and further design abusing it all.
Not least debt-based systems which result in lack of time from people trying to hunt constantly for negative-math money slipping ever far away from society... leading to not much incentive to think - it's a total loss to some degree, debt only being part of what people don't invest in each other without institution.Investing in each other without institutions is difficult.
People want to feel more "in" than totally "out" in some collective and that is what systems are often planning to do that from those creators/managers behind it who don't really care...
Would love to hear your thoughts... hope it's not totally way off.

...which enables elites to interfere before #elections, during elections and after elections, because we have a #representational #voting #system.
That, as you know, evolved in the #US after the #War of Independence to exclude the #common people from #participation in the #political process and to favor and #support the #elites.
So we've never had proper democracy, [even] going back to ancient Athens and such.
Instead, it’s actually people being selected randomly by sortition that say that the powers that be cannot interfere with who actually gets the rule, and ordinary people do not rule rather than people selected by political parties.

"Her crime? Organizing a disruptive protest against new government-granted licenses to drill for oil — a planet-heating #FossilFuel — in the #NorthSea.
"In late July, a London court found #Gethin and four other members of the #JustStopOil activist group guilty of 'conspiring intentionally to cause a #PublicNuisance,' after recruiting protesters to climb structures along the M25 — a major ring road around London — bringing traffic to a standstill in parts over four days in November 2022.
"Prosecutors alleged that the protests, organized over a #ZoomCall, disrupted more than 700,000 drivers, caused economic damage of over £760,000 ($980,000) and racked up £1 million ($1.3m) in policing costs.
"Now Gethin and three others — Louise Lancaster, #DanielShaw and #LuciaWhittakerDeAbreu, who planned the disruption on the call — are serving four-year jail terms, while Just Stop Oil co-founder #RogerHallam was given five years. All are appealing.
"The sentences are believed to be the longest in the UK’s history for #nonviolent protest and were delivered under two new controversial laws that supercharged #policing powers to crack down on disruptive protests, even when they are peaceful.

Kurz nach den Interviews durch #RogerHallam die enorme Kritik gegen XR zu Folge hatte, versuchte XR sich nach außen hin als nun distanziert davon zu präsentieren.
Verschwiegen wurde dabei, dass intern eine intensive Debatte geführt wird, die sich sogar damit beschäftigt ob die Holocaustrelativierung nicht sogar richtig sei. #hambibleibt hatte hier darüber berichtet:

Darin werden die Presseteams kritisiert, dass sie versuchen eine Meinung von XR zu präsentieren, die aber gar nicht Konsens ist. Es wird sogar gefordert, dass Holocaustrelativierung Platz in der Kommunikation nach außen finden sollte.
...und auch deswegen bleibt meine Aussage, dass XR strukturelle Holocaustrelativierung betreibt.

auch ist es wichtig anzumerken, dass sich innerhalb XR viele mit #RogerHallam solidarisierten/solidarisieren.
Nach außen wurde dies kleingeredet wenn Kritik kam, bzw. ganz verschwiegen.Das ist kein ehrlicher Umgang, aber Imageschutz.

Roger Hallam has been/is? leader in creating XR's strategy and ideology. Distancing oneself from him will not lead to change how Roger and fellows designed XR.Roger also claims:
- Pacifism is the most effective tool (based on historic revisionism and other forms of manipulation) and that XR should spread such permanently through all channels
- police are among the best allies
- being imprisoned by the police is the best one can do against climatecrisis
- vegans, intersectionalists and the left are threat to climatejustice
- we should not publicly outcall people for bad behaviour and should shut down those that do
- we should empathize to embed nationalist and conservative ideology to our movments
- ...Roger has been spreading a lot of nonsense. #XR adopted most of it, happily not all of it.

If you do something that is ilegal, make shure that the police can arrest you because it is the most effective thing we can do.
This is part of their core strategy and ideology that every local XR group has adopted, at least I'm not aware of exceptions.
Reason why XR fellows believe in it:
XR created Narratives that:
- make effectivness and public support to be the same thing
- make resieving repression to be the same as resieving public support -
