Rodney Dangerfield was born Jacob Rodney Cohen in Babylon, Long Island, NY on Nov 22, 1921.
He had a rough start in a dysfunctional family; he did odd jobs and performed at hotels, without much success.
His career took off on Sunday, March 5, 1967, when The Ed Sullivan Show needed a last-minute replacement for another act, and Dangerfield became the surprise hit of the show.
The rest is history.
