"Eye of the Tiger" is a song by the American rock band #Survivor. It was written by #FrankieSullivan and #JimPeterik as the theme song for the 1982 film #RockyIII and released that May as a single from Survivor's third album, #EyeOfTheTiger. It combines #hardRock with a #postdisco beat. #SylvesterStallone, the director and star of Rocky III, enlisted Survivor after #Queen denied him permission to use their song "Another One Bites the Dust". #Survivor derived lyrics.

Just finished my interview with Jim Peterik; he and the rest of the original members of the band Ides Of March are gonna be in town next week to do a show. He’s more widely known for his work with Survivor and when the Ides Of March are in town next week, they’ll be performing their big hit from 1970, “Vehicle,” as well as stuff from Survivor and songs he wrote for .38 Special. He told me the story about how he came to write this one.
