No sooner had County of Monterey Public Works Department cleaned up this road's rockslides (https://bikemonterey.org/bike-buzz-winter-2025-2026-news-from-bicycling-monterey.html#WhereToRpt), than Mother Nature said, “Let’s do it again!”

Kick rocks!

That’s what we started to do, attempting to use our feet to clear the west shoulder of Olmsted Rd near Hwy 68 / CA SR 68. Then we noticed the east shoulder and travel lanes were likewise strewn with many rocks! Don’t know what mishap left that mess, but we’re reporting to road cleanup crews : https://bikemonterey.org/where-to-report-a-bikeway-maintenance-need-in-monterey-county-plus-maintenance-needs-for-california-state-highways.html.

What to do when you come upon a rockslide (or other debris) that interferes with biking the shoulder of a road (and you normally bike the shoulder of that road, because motor vehicles travel at high speeds in the main travel lanes)?
